Google Gravity

This is fun. Type "google gravity" in Google, and click on "I'm Feeling Lucky". The entire page will gain gravity, but you will still be able to search. And chuck things around for ages, if you're like me!

Thank you, GV :)

Rune Guneriussen

Ok, I'm in love with Rune Guneriussen's photography. The image below, especially. It transports me to a Narnia-esque imaginary land of my own. Sigh.

Lest you or I lose the URL later, I have now saved it in my link list, under "Creative Bees". You'll notice that Jessica Hische's links are also there. I love that my link list is growing. :D

Woo!

Handed in the packaging assignment (the colouring pencil packaging that turns into colouring pencil stand). I have to say, I am happy with how it turned out, fiddly bits and all. I got three paper cuts. Hmph.

Here's a fellow classmate's blog, just thought I'd share: Lem-N

The weekend.

What a weekend!

Like I said, Thursday was spent packing goody bags. On Friday, I had volunteered for photography at Semi-Permanent, but I also got to see some speakers. Jessica Hische was fantastic! Such great work, and so inspirational! And look! She's on blogger! Also check out her Daily Drop Cap project. I watched Pixar's Andrew Gordon too, but I have to admit, I was a teensy bit sleepy by then. :O

Subtlemob was on Friday too. It's where you get a partner, download a certain mp3, and go and stand in a designated area. Then you start playing the mp3 at a certain time. And follow the instructions playing on your mp3. But it's all about being invisible and blending in; you're not supposed to know who else is taking part in the subtlemob with you. But I have to say, Fridays subtlemob was not so subtle. There were so many pairs of people walking about, earphones in their ears! And it's different to Improv Everywhere's mp3 experiment, in that this was more about life, and thinking about the little things... being there for someone when they're alone... drinking in your atmosphere... :)

The rest of the speakers on Saturday were brilliant as well. I liked all of them, especially Adrian Shaughnessy's design tips and Storm Thorgerson's 4D Kiwifruit glasses.

Sunday was amazing - I got to photograph a very exciting event. The Storylines Festival's Auckland Family Day. There was bookbinding, authors, illustrators, face painting, storytelling, card-making, factopia, Clifford and the Buzzy Bee, competitions, balloons, calligraphy and oh my! Stephanie - if you're reading this - you would've loved it!

Ahh, that was my weekend, friends. I wish every weekend was like this. Sigh.

How was your weekend?!

Semi-Permanent

I won't be able to update much this weekend, because -

Semi-Permanent is on this Friday and Saturday! It's a two-day design conference, and people say it's brilliant. And very inspiring.

We spent all day today packing 1800 goodie bags for Semi-Permanent tomorrow. Fun, fun!

I am also attending Subtlemob. Now I've never been to Subtlemob, so I don't really know what to expect, but there was an mp3 file that we downloaded, and all the people who gather for Subtlemob will start playing the audio exactly at the same time. Should be interesting!

And there is also another very amazing event that I will be photographing for, on Sunday!

See you on Monday, peeps!

p.s.: I did try linking Semi-Permanent and Subtlemob to their respective websites, but Blogger won't let me!

A couple of links

Gasp! Real life Hobbiton!

Operation Beautiful. Awh! It makes me want to write out a bunch of encouraging notes and stick them at uni. :) People need more love at uni, with what the assignments and due dates piling up! {Wooh, colouring pencils box design almost done! I shall laser cut it next week!}

World's Greenest Homes

Pretty cool, huh?

I know I haven't been posting much recently... just busy with university assignments. Right now I am trying to design a colouring pencil box that will transform into a colouring pencil stand. A hundred prototypes later, I think I have the design sorted. I'll post it here when I'm done. :)

Om Nom Nom!

Are these the sweetest, prettiest cookies you've seen, or what!! I want to gobble them up (but I know that I won't be able to... they're way too beautiful for gobblement purposes!)... They also remind me of Arabic Henna designs. I got one on my left hand last Saturday (the henna, not the cookie!) and it's fading away now...

Picture and cookies by the extremely talented Amber Spiegel.

And Sueeee thank you so much for following me! (Sue goes to the same university/course as me, and I've been trying to convince her to start a blog :D )

p.s.: Slowish updates because of looming due dates at university. Our Lancome product is due next week, and our essay the week after *insert slight hyperventilation* Maybe I need to bully Rashmi into posting something here... =P But oh joy, I can almost see the weekend!

Just a bit of fun.

Haha, I got "a wall with Harry Potter poster" (my computer sits in a corner of my room).

Creative office furniture

Wow, how neat is this chair that "holds up to 80 paperbacks", as well as contains a lamp, extra space for stationery, and comfortable seating!? By the end of every week, very possible surface of my room gets stacked with books, sheaves of paper, clothes, stationery... and what not. This could be an awesome solution!

And this! It's a tent-like structure which encloses you in your private own space inside your bedroom/office! Not good if you're claustrophobic!

Edit: Yeouch. Horror stationery. Contains graphic images (but take a look if you want to, they're quite creative).

p.s.: Yup, an increase in packaging posts these days because of my new elective at university - Packaging.

Hermes Corporate

Have you ever been to the Hermes Corporate website? I love it - it's full of inspiration, and I visit it often.

Earlier I also posted about the print-your-own Hermes Kelly bags and Hermes Collier de Chien bracelets. The Kelly bags are not available for download anymore, but the bracelets are.

Hope you had an amazing weekend! I did!

Backpacker LOL

Nah, not my own image, aye. It's funny, though.

VALS dress up

We have to dress up for our History, Culture, Context lecture according to our VALS test results tomorrow. Fun? Not exactly.

We'll be dressing up as the consumer who is directly opposite to us. I'm an Achiever so I'll dress up as a Striver/Survivor. I'll be dressing up as a backpacker tomorrow. Bandanna, two plaits, "I like Singapore lah" tee, capri pants, and a backpack. Let's see what sort of reactions I get on the bus, haha ... it's going to be embaaaaarrassing!

Lancome WIP

I've mentioned earlier that we're designing fake nail packaging for Lancome (it's a made up product; no such Lancome product exists in the market). Here's some rough work in progress/concepts:

The first two (top left) are the concepts that look most similar to the current Lancome products, and the concepts then on have my own little additions... My main inspiration was Marie Antoinette. Here is a quick inspiration board that I created:

Zumba!

Today, I went to my very first Zumba class! It was so energising... and loud. The teachers were real nice and enthusiastic, so that definitely improved my bleh mood.

I want to go again!

And yay, thanks, Glynis, for following us!!

Help Remedies

The one that would be the most useful for me out of these, would be "help, I can't sleep!" (it's 2am right now) but what the heck, I would most certainly buy all of these, were they in any stores I know of ... Would you buy them, or would you just go for your regular trusted brands?

Ohh, and thanks so much, Angelfruit, for following us! :)

Snow White's Apple

Would you get this done to your laptop? via Gizmodo

Oh, and if you care. My Harry Potter story, over on The Happy Ordeal.
