Most Used Words

Facebook says that these are my most used words. I love how it's got "Zeitgeist" in there (I think everyone's most used words say something about that particular person):

Yay, handed in two of our assignments today (Film Analysis essay—we analysed She's the Man, and Life Drawing). Three more to go (Online Portfolio, Juno Storyboard, aaand Creative Design Thinking for Business Essay)! Can't wait for the holidays!

Untitled.

Hello, folks! Can I just say, I had an amazing birthday, thanks again to K, M, J, A, and mum and dad for the loveliest cake that I've ever had! This is one of my favourite photos from the day (I'm the one in the middle):

And something I found on Katie's blog: Emails written in your handwriting. I can't wait to try it out, after the assignments are handed in!

Edit: Totally forgot to report back about the cookies! Everyone loved them! Making more for Christmas! :')

Navratri

Navratri is a Hindu festival, and the name literally means "nine nights" (nav is nine, and ratri is nights). It started last Friday, and will go on till Saturday (which is also my birthday!). Traditionally, people dance in a large circle around the statue/photo of the Goddess (I wasn't sure which Goddess it was, but Wikipedia says that this depends on different traditions). This dance is called Garba (pronounced gur-ba).

I just got back from Garba half an hour ago.. it's such an exciting experience, dancing and twirling to the beat of rhythmic music. I forgot everything and just danced! There's specific steps that you need to follow, and my friend Karishma (who also writes a blog here) taught me how to do them. Thanks, Kri! :) We were meant to take photos today, but we just danced the whole time... I'm going tomorrow as well, and I really hope I can take some photos that I can share here with you!

I don't think it's an opportunity to miss, so if you have any Indian friends, do grab them and go to Garba!!

Oooh, and my cookies are progressing very well, thank you. I iced some today. I've kept PINK as the theme of my birthday party, as it's one of my favourite colours, and it's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Birthday Cookies

Feeling totally inspired by Amber Spiegel and her cookies... mmm... I'm going to be making cookies for my small birthday get-together on Saturday (along with lots of other nosh, of course!). But the cookie will not be the focus of the cookie-making-and-devouring, it'll be the decoration on it... I hope that makes sense. But I guess it doesn't. I'll definitely put a photo up after Saturday to let you know what I'm babbling about. Haha...

And talk about "you are your worst client". It took me hours to design my birthday invites and a rough draft for my new portfolio website (it's an assignment for university). Sigh.

I don't have the cookie cutters so obviously, those photos aren't mine! :)

Tactile Illustration

Amazing tactile illustrations by Shotopop. I wish I'd found out about them earlier! I definitely would've done some for my last assignment! I'm not taking illustration next year (I'm majoring in photography), but I want to try these out anyway! Also check out Shotopop's Munny (it's in the tactile illustration section), it's cuh-yute :)

On a side note, are you excited for Deathly Hallows Part 1?! And The Voyage of the Dawn Treader? I can't wait for both! My friend and I will hopefully be attending the Deathly Hallows midnight screening. Eep!!

Like I said, all images © the amazing creatives at Shotopop.

Lace Fence

Beautiful, isn't it? I think my current obsession with lace and all things pink is because of our latest assignment, which had us (it's a group assignment) photographing pink lace for the past, say, four weeks?

Pashley Poppy

Seriously, how pretty is this pink bicycle?! How gorgeous would someone look cycling down the streets in it? I can't stop staring at it. :D

Fashion Week

Just some photos from a fun event I attended last Thursday.

"The Red Collection" during NZ Fashion Week:

And yay, it's October! I've always loved October because it's my birth month, but it also means that it's spring again! And soon enough, it will be a very sunny summer! When we moved into our new house, our carport had a stick-like dead-looking vine on it, and suddenly, last week, it bloomed into the most beautiful, sweet-smelling purple flowers (it's a Wisteria vine). Nature's wonder :)

Edit: As always, click on the photos to see them bigger.
